Michael Rall teaching at CAM
Michael Rall is teaching high school students at the CAM in Raleigh this week. It is great that there are programs like this now to expose young students to design thinking and problem solving. Donald had a great time talking to his class yesterday and seeing some of their great work. Michael is doing a great job and I am sure there will be some great young designers coming from this experience.
BACK in Prague
Donald is back in Prague teaching students from Appalachian State University and North Carolina State University in Industrial Design, specifically “Toy Design”. Can’t wait to see the results, hopefully an article will also be created about the project. BTW Stress Beater was spotted in a gift shop at Namesti Republiky.

“Spooled” licensed by Fred and Friends

“Spooled” was recently licensed to be produced and distributed by Fred and Friends as part of their Fall 11 line. This is the second product Fred has licensed from The Other Edge Design Studio, the “Stress Beater” was the first. We are looking forward to working with Fred more in the future.
“Spooled” and “Table Top Tray” to show in Sydney

Two products, “Spooled” and the “Table Top Tray” were selected to be part of workshopped 11 in Sydney, Australia and will shown starting August 3rd. It is going to be a great exhibition so please if you are in the area check it out.
Donald back to Prague this summer

Donald will be teaching half of the summer Industrial Design program for the NC State Prague Institute starting May 21. His project for the students will be focused on culture influence of food and food preparation.Prague is such a wonderful and inspiring city that we are sure some new ideas will be flowing there and when he returns.
Milan- Salone Satellite

Just returned from an awesome time showing at Salone Satellite in Milan, Italy. We were part of the www.allstart.org booth, where we got to hang out and exhibit with some of the nicest people from all over the world. The Pocket Vase, Stress Beater and Earbud Spool were huge hits with everyone that walked by the booth. For those of you that have not experienced Salone – it is completely overwhelming. There is so much design, so many people it is hard to remember what you saw 5 minutes before, but it is so worth seeing. This experience will certainly affect our designing in the future and hopefully we can show with allstart.org again really soon.

He will be showcasing two products in the exhibition, the Pocket Vase and the Modern Birdhouse. Donald will also be covering the event for core77. DXR ’09 in Raleigh, NC a great success.

DXR ’09 opened at Flanders Art Gallery in Raleigh, NC last week. Over 40 projects showcasing Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, and Industrial Design were on display.
